I saw him on an episode of Penn & Teller's Bullshit this season.
There was also a rumor he was really John Holmes (a.k.a. Johnny Wadd).
The "dead in Vietnam" rumor chased just about every male child actor of
the era. It started with Jerry Mathers and flipped around from there,
as the subjects of the rumor kept turning up alive. I remember that
the younger kid on Flipper, Tommy Norden, was supposed to have been
killed there, too.
With 58,000 Americans killed over there, it may have turned out to be
true for some rumors.
